Barista Training
Our espresso brings you the perfect cup, balanced and harmonious; it is the pinnacle of coffee experience but to achieve this, the correct brewing time is essential - 25 seconds (less than 20 seconds the coffee will taste sour, more than 30 and the brew will start to taste burnt and bitter).
This is crucially achieved through a union of the correct grind with a good firm tamp.
Combined with a good thick crema, an easy way to spot things are well is by observing the stream of coffee bending back into the cup like warm honey.
We offer all our rental customers free Barista training either once your Espresso Machine is installed, or in our dedicated training room at the Roast House.
Rosie will show you how to make the most of your Espresso machine, how to make the perfect espresso shot, the difference between steaming and stretching milk, and how to clean and look after your machine. She will also offer any advice on how best to serve your coffee, to keep your customers coming back while ensuring you don’t waste a bean!

Once your chosen top quality traditional Espresso Machine is in place, the fun can begin. We know our espresso Machines are great and we want you to treat them with the love they deserve and make them work for you to their full potential.
- To produce perfect coffee consistently and get the most from your Espresso Machine, training is a must!
- Training starts with an introduction to your chosen coffee blend, its origins and Martin’s hand roasting methods and how best to store it, so you only serve fresh ground coffee.
- Although I am always around to lend a hand, I want you to feel confident in using and maintaining your equipment, so I will show you how to calibrate your Espresso Grinder to guarantee the perfect espresso extraction.
- I will show you how to tamp your coffee like a professional to get the perfect espresso.
- Whether you’re running a busy coffee shop, restaurant or bar, I can give you tips on how best to make and serve your coffees. Not only so they look and taste amazing, but also so that all members of your team can consistently make and serve great coffee. Ensuring your customers always receive swift service and go away happy and, most importantly, with a mind to come back soon!
- We will work through your menu and discuss the range of coffees and strength of coffees that would suit your customers, and I can give plenty of suggestions for popular drinks to add!
- We will go through the method of stretching milk for a Cappuccino compared with steaming milk for a Latte, and if you really pick it up we will do a bit of Latte art! A guaranteed way to impress your customers!
- A daily cleaning routine, including back flushing, is very important and the best way to ensure your coffee always tastes as it should, and you get the most from your Espresso Machine!
- Your Barista kit contains all the tools needed to make an excellent Espresso, silky smooth milk and clean your machine.
